There IS 122 Mage the Ascension books that are published by White Wolf and Oynx Path Publishing.
That is too many for normal people to read
IM NOT NORMAL

Hello my name is Elaine and I happen to really like this silly wizard game made for the insane. I'm going to assume anyone who is looking at this either 1. is already into MTA and wants some infomation on it. Or 2. has no fucking clue what this is or why I'm making this page. If you are the former, click here. If the latter, then lets go over some basic concepts

How This Site Works

I'm not affiliated with White Wolf or Oynx Path Publishing nor do I claim to be. This is merely a fan site for me to gush about Mage and help others to understand the lore and rules in a single place, this is not a replacment for BUYING a copy of the rules and sourcebooks. I encourage you to go to drivethruRPG or Storytellers vault to obtain legal copys of the books. Links to the mage books for both sites are at the bottom of the page.

other than that disclaimer This site has some additonal features for the conveniace of the reader. Whenever text like *THIS*THIS TOOK OVER AN HOUR TO FIGURE OUT KILL ME IN MY SLEEP appers you can hover over it to shee a detailed annotation giving more context and/or definitions for terms in the game and setting. if I didn't do this there would be dozens of extra pages you would have to sift though. you're welcome.

A Primer On Mage: The Ascension

Mage: The Ascension, not to be confused with Mage: The AwakeningMage: The Awakening is a sperate gameline set in the Chronicles of Darkness universe which is similar but wholy diffrent from WoD, it's good too but not what this site is for. , is a TTRPG in the World Of Darkness (WoD) universe. Like all WoD games it is set in roughly modern time, usally in the late nineties to early aughts, and has a lot of the same themes as it's cousin gamelines. All WoD gamelines have vauge theming that underpins the narratives in the setting, Gothic-Punk.Gothic-Punk is the mood of WoD, Gothic for the bleakness of the world; the world is ending, the Ascension War is lost, Oblivion is comming. Punk for the counterculture, the refusal to let the world pass, the will to see through the lies, the strengh to face a malstorm. also playing golf with a vampire stockbroker's head. Gothic-Punk. Vampire is about class stuggles and keeping your humanity in spite of the fact you have lost yours. Werewolf is about rage monsters literally raging against the machine of industry killing the planet. Wraith is about coming to grips with mortality post mortality (in the not fun way).

And then there is mage, which is vaugely hopeful. You are a being of limitless potential, grasping at the possiblitys in front of you, searching for an answer to questions that only you can answer. Of course this is like I did with the other gamelines a gross reduction of the true themes of the game, I'm trying to keep this brief.

What Is A Mage?

A Mage is someone who though willpower, shapes the world to their perspective. This is both figurative and literal, Mages tend to become people of influence; in the mythic ages they were court magicians, in the modern world they are college deans, astronaughts, CEOs. But they also literally bend reality, forcing the world to do as they please with their paradim. Mages can be really anything too, a vagrant witch making curses around Brussels Germany, an aesthetic monk attempting to become one with the universe, a mind fused with an ether fueled quantum calculation generator, a sentient explosion screaming in space for multiple centuries, a fortune 500 CEO that eats the hearts of virgins to keep their skin smooth. a Mage may call themselves something else a preist, a high magician, an enlightend scientist; but they are all Mages.
